Resolution steps
Mastering is the final step in preparing a finished mix for distribution on streaming platforms and for playback on phones, computers and speaker systems.
Moises offers three mastering modes: Auto, Advanced and Reference Track. All three work on every plan, including Free; what changes between plans is whether the mastered file can be exported.
- Auto — Moises detects the track's peaks and sets the parameters itself. You choose a loudness profile (Spotify, YouTube, Tidal) and nothing else. This is the mode to start with.
- Advanced — you set the final level, the peak and the intensity of the mastering algorithm, and can attenuate frequencies, usually low or high, for a smoother result. It suits someone who already mixes and knows what they are after.
- Reference Track — you upload a song to use as the reference for shaping the master. The reference should match the genre and feel of your own mix, and a high-quality uncompressed WAV or AIF file gives the best result.
