The BPM is wrong; what should I do?

  • Updated

You uploaded your file to Moises, downloaded all the stems you needed, and once you imported all the files to your DAW using the BPM that Moises had previously detected, you found out the BPM was not 100% accurate. What should you do now?

First, we have to understand how Moises detects the BPM of any song or audio file, and it does so using its "Smart Metronome" feature.

The Smart Metronome feature listens to every beat of the song, detecting every down/offbeat, and breaks down the rhythm pattern and tempo by using an MS unit. Once the MS number is successfully detected by the algorithm, it proceeds to set an estimated number in BPM based on that MS number. You may use the BPM number detected by Moises as a great starting point to determine your song's accurate BPM.

But the metronome sounds right while previewing the song in the app; why does it sound out of sync when I import it into my DAW?

That happens because the metronome you hear in our app is our Smart Metronome.

The Smart Metronome click actually floats by following the song rhythm patterns, ensuring you can always play along from start to finish.

Once the algorithm sets a static BPM number based on that, you may come across this type of issue. Also, remember that not every song sticks to the same BPM throughout its whole playing time, and the algorithm can not detect such nuances in this unit (yet).
